The "Geodesign Barrier" system, available for protection against flood water up to 5.9 ft. seep using standard pallets made of wood, or metal sheets and a metal support and a waterproof geomembrane.
The technique is based on standard wood pallets. The inexpensive pallets are designed to withstand heavy loads and are available worldwide. Also metal sheets are available as an alternative to wood pallets.
No special anchorages are needed when the barriers are mounted, since the support is anchored through friction and pressure on the ground. The system is very simple to use. One man can easily assemble up to 1,000 in a day. With a barrier height of 3.3 ft., a single pallet replaces about 50 sandbags weighing 66 lbs. each. The barriers are assembled by inclining each pallet/metal sheet against its support so they can form a line in the desired direction.
The Geodesign Barrier system is used throughout Europe and Australia. A lot of very spectacular rescue operations has been accomplished thanks to this product and the inventor, Sten-Magnus Kullberg, has been awarded as the Inventor of the Year in Sweden. Mr. Kullberg is looking for a U.S. partner who can set up Flood Prevention Centers in regions suffering from floods and hurricanes. He is also looking for a joint venture.
