Ingvar Haglöf Receives Count Carl Bernadotte’s Forest Prize

Mr. Ingvar Haglöf was recently awarded the Count Carl Bernadotte Forest Prize in Sweden. Ingvar is the owner of Haglöf Sweden AB in Långsele, Sweden. In 1997, he built a manufacturing plant for his forest products in Madison, Mississippi.

The Count Carl Bernadotte Forest Prize is known as the most honorable prize within forest industry in Sweden. Count Carl Bernadotte was a grandchild to H.M Oscar II (king of Sweden and Norway). There is only one recipient each year. The picture above shows H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf awarding Ingvar Haglöf the Forest Prize.

Through a lifetime of work building the company Haglöf Sweden AB, designing and marketing its various products, Mr. Ingvar Haglöf has contributed to Sweden being among the world’s top countries in forest measurement. Efficient and accurate estimations of a forest are requirements for organized cultivation. Not until it is know what a particular forest looks like, can a company or a country strategize how to effectively manage forest resources.

Ingvar Haglöf’s efforts and his company’s success have improved the management of forests worldwide. Recently, the importance of measuring forests has increased due to the issues of sequestering carbon and producing bio energy. Sustainable forest management will have significant impact on local populations, countries’ economies, air quality, soil and water conservation, wildlife habitats, and the climate worldwide. Haglöf provides instruments such as altimeters, calipers and increment borers, as well as software designed for inventory. The tools made by Haglöf enable managers to make decisions that promote conservation and sustainable management. Mr. Ingvar Haglöf is continuously making a valuable contribution to forest conservation worldwide.
